Immortelle assembles some of the poems written by Frank Watty, a native of Dominica in the West Indies, while the author resided in the Caribbean, combined with more recent works written in Canada.

Immortelle : Selected Poems and Lyrics

These sixty poems and lyrics draw on recollections, experiences and sensitivities relating to distinctly Caribbean themes. These sometimes parallel and at other times contrast with poems set within a North American context. The language is predominantly sensual, the subject-matter sometimes allegorical, the mood invariably contemplative. The reader is beseiged by subliminal undercurrents of social comment and through powerful imagery, both Caribbean and Canadian lifescapes are vibrantly brought to life.
